How did you get started racing boats?

My Dad sponsored Tony Scarlata’s PGF boat at the Marble Falls Lakefest and he let me sit in his boat and crank it.  We were hooked from then on.  Then he told us about a friend that was selling his boat and the rest is history.

story1Welcome to the Southern Drag Boat Association (SDBA) home on the internet. Established in 1974, The Southern Drag Boat Association, Inc., (SDBA) is the oldest sanctioning organization in the world for competitive drag boat racing events.

Rich in heritage and tradition, the SDBA was formed from many boat clubs to have a common rule book a standard set of timing equipment and sanctions events in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and participates in events elsewhere under the National Drag Boat Association banner.

With hundreds of racing memberships, the SDBA offers a unique, exciting, family oriented sport which is comparable to no other, and second to none. The display of speed on the liquid quarter mile, coupled with the technology of state of the art boat hulls equipped with 1,000+ horsepower fuel, alcohol, and gasoline powered engines promises to afford an event spectators will find astonishing.
