AWARDS RECEIVED: 2017 Lucas Oil and ADBA Season High Points Champion 2018 Lucas Oil and ADBA Season High Points Champion 2018 San Angelo Runner Up 2019 San Angelo Event Winner
NUMBER OF YEARS RACING: Boat racing on and off for 12 years.
WHAT GOT ME STARTED IN RACING: Our local Elephant Butte lake boats eventually got too fast, so we started racing.
BIGGEST INFLUENCE: All my crazy friends!
FUTURE GOALS: Keep on racing as much as I can financially afford! Eventually, I’d like to race capsule boats.
GREATEST ASSET: My friends and family
BEST RACE: San Angelo 2019. I rebuilt the boat, complete with a new floor as well. It was supposed to be a test and tune race for us, but we ended up number one qualifier. We went many rounds on Sunday, and won the whole thing.
MOST BIZARRE RACE: Luckily I’ve not had anything too weird happen, but first race of 2019 in Parker AZ I bent a valve on warm up, and did a complete valve job on both heads in the pits. I used a valve from a machine shop in Havasu, and still made the race!
WORST TOWING TRIP: Marble Falls 2008. I had three blowouts on the trailer, and learned to replace them way more regularly after that.
PERSON I ADMIRE IN RACING: Mike Collins from the CDBA! He’s an excellent flat bottom driver and smart as hell. I’ve raced him many times, and been beaten more times than not, but I’ve also learned a heck of a lot about boat racing from him.
OTHER HOBBIES: I grew up racing dirt bikes, and if you can race a dirt bike, you can race anything! My wife and I enjoy getting out in the Can Am side by side as well. We also like to boat at Elephant Butte Lake in Southern NM.
BIGGEST REGRET: Selling my Hot Damn Hondo flat bottom!
GREATEST CHALLENGE: Racing on a “normal” person’s salary with a maxed out credit card!
SMARTEST THING I'VE EVER DONE: Moving back to Los Alamos to work at the Laboratory for the pension.
BEST TIME OF MY LIFE: It’s all been good, and I’m still going!
LIFELONG HERO: My Dad. He’s the smartest guy I know, yet still down to earth with common sense… very rare these days. He’s taught me so much; I would not be near the person I am today without him!
